Split one SM57 between the two mounted toms and use an SM57 in the bass drum instead of the AKG. Once you can afford the AKG, put it in the bass and then move the SM57 to the tom so you have a mic on each of your mounted toms. If you ever want to get real fancy with your kick drum you can do what I used to do before I started triggering. Use the AKG D112 inside the bass drum and place an SM57 just a few inches away from the batter head on the bass drum to pick up the attack of the beater. This works best with a wooden beater.
