When recording audio on your pc, this audio requirements to be converted from sound (air molecules bouncing about and crashing into each other) into data that a computer system can work with called digital audio. The hardware that does this "analog-to-digital" (A-to-D) conversion is called an audio interface. The most fundamental type of this may be the humble sound card built into most computers. These can be noisy and not truly very great at the conversion procedure at all. In most situations the term audio interface refers nowadays to an external box that connects (commonly via USB) to your computer system. Examples incorporate the M-Audio Rapidly Track, the Lexicon Alpha and Omega models, and the PreSonus Audio Box. There are lots far more than these, beginning at around $70 for 1 or 2 inputs, going up in price, high quality and number of inputs readily available into four figures.
If you are preparing to record at a residence studio, in that case you can need good top quality music recording equipment. The devices used to record indoors will not suit for the same outdoor. If you're beginning with a studio then you will need to get the best available equipment. The key reason to buy the best product initially would be to avoid chaos in the later stage. Branded and high quality tools will last for couple of years without any problem. However, it will not be the same when compared to ordinary and normal recording merchandise.

Need help picking a motherboard for my computer?
ok so im running a small home studio until after college and i move onto a full size one. but anyway i am building my own computer because the programs and effect racks are slowing building and slowing down my computer. so let me just give you a list of parts im putting in my computer and just give me your opinion on what mother board would suit me best =)
- Intel Core 2 Quad Processor
- NX-8040 Nexus Real Silent 400w Power Supply
- (2) Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB SATA Hard Drives
- (2) Nexus Silent Case Fans
- (2) 24x Optical DVD/CD Drives (not sure what brand)
- ATI Radeon 9000 64MB AGP Video Card
- Kingston 4Gb Ram
so what motherboard would be powerful enough for that? if you see anything that wouldnt work just let me know thanks =)
Error...ERROR!!!
That video card is ancient. The Radeon 9000 is like a 9 year old model, and AGP is a discontinued interface these days. Any recent motherboard which supports a Core 2 Quad will have a PCI-Express slot, not AGP.
If you need something inexpensive and reliable, go with an Asus P5KPL model:

The power conditioners are one of essentially the most important devices applied within the recording set to reduce the noise level and supply an uninterrupted source of power. These devices not only reduce the noise on the floor but also improve the range and clarity of the sound. The signal processors reduce the buzzing and humming sound caused due to current low within the power supply sources during the recording. They take care of sensitive signals and filter the radiation and sound. There is no substitute for top quality recording equipment just like the Effects Rack Case you are going to see on this page.
Do you need Pro Tools compatibility? Pro Tools is widely regarded as the industry standard in music recording software, and not really a lot of interfaces are compatible with Pro Tools. You'll want to look into M-Audio's M-Powered line of interfaces like the M-box, Fast Track Pro, or Mobile Pre. These also usually come bundled with a stripped-down version of Pro Tools for example Pro Tools SE. Let me state here, however, that Pro Tools is definitely NOT mandatory, even if it can be considered the industry standard. In case you aren't planning to have multiple studios working on your projects, all with their own set-ups, then compatibility isn't an issue. Your audio interface, in whatever form, is essential for recording your audio tracks. You'll find a range of audio interfaces of all sizes so you may record from single tracks to full orchestras! As we generally say at Property Brew Audio, let you needs drive your gear purchasing decisions. Whatever your needs are there is an audio interface out there to meet them. There is no substitute for top quality recording equipment just like the Effects Rack Case you'll see on this page.
